And on that day you will not question Me about anything.Truly, truly I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in my name, He will give it to you.Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full John 16:23-24 NASB2020

How many times have we prayed for help in something, or when we lack wisdom in an area, or are insecure in our relationship with Christ, or a new believer just reading and struggling for insight into how to live the Christian life? I know I have! Especially when I thought I knew it all about the Christian life; found out it was head knowledge, and after a long period of brokenness and learning to really surrender self to Jesus, I found that my prayers were meaningful when I asked in Jesus’ name because His name is the only name we need; Our savior, king, friend, Lamb of God, our only hope. He is our source of life, and He has already supplied what we need, we have to just ask Father God in Jesus’ name, and it will be given. No matter what we need; He has promised to supply it. Lately this prayer has given me comfort as family members have rejected me and my wife due to the election results as well as them claiming we hate our son who came out as gay years ago. They also claim we are not Christians and have basically left us, and forbid us from seeing our grandson, plus blocking us on all manners of social media. I recognize that we are not perfect, and mistakes have been made. We do love your sons,I have apologized and asked for forgiveness; however due to their hurts and anger they have went their way and left the family. Every day I pray that my children and wife are healed from the hurts, and that Father God restores and reunites our family. That is my hope and I have forgiven them and blessed them. I hope this gives you all hope and know that Father is there and He will help us,in Jesus name. Take courage, no matter what you need or are going through, He is there.

2 Peter 1:2-4 NASB2020 For His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. Through these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world on account of lust. How many times in life have we run on fumes, or done things in our own strength? We all have, and I’m the first to admit that I have!!So many incidents I can think of I’d powered through, or forced my way thinking I knew best to solve a problem in my life. How dumb was that?? Like money issues, work problems, wife and family problems, thinking I knew better, when I should have taken it to God knowing that He has given me His resources and promises. This verse states that I have EVERYTHING in HIM I need for life!! How foolish I was to rely on myself, being the fallen human I am, when in Christ through His Spirit I can rely and live in His resources and power for what I need!! That’s great news!! Also, what helps when reading a Bible verse, personalize it. Where a pronoun is, substitute your name: this really helps in understanding and internalizing the meaning. It helped me. What have you tried to do on your own and failed, when giving it to Christ and living from Him would help you to do it for His glory?

Today’s verse: Romans 10:13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved NASB 2020 I’ve been spending time watching some videos and shorts by ministers and other faith leaders advocating for many different ways to get closer to God, what you need to do and believe, who and what not to do, basically what amounts to legalism in order to be saved or born again. The verse above is pretty simple in context: Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord WILL be saved!! No quotas, no select few, no works first, very simple concept, just call on the name of of the Lord Jesus Christ and He will save you, clean you up, and give you eternal life. So easy, yet so many people make it more difficult than what it really is. All we have to do is humble ourselves and ask! He will freely give to us. Have you asked Him? He’s waiting now. Just ask.

Psalm 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our wrongdoings from us NASB 2020 How many times have we sinned, or screwed up at work, or made your spouse or family angry and didn’t want anyone to find out about it, because you just knew that they would NEVER let you live it down? hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we all have done that. It a flesh reaction with emotional components. Say you spend too much money, or have an argument with your sons, or your wife, or make a coworker jealous because you get promoted over them, and they get mad at you. Any sin is an offense against God, and separates us from Him. However: we have confidence in Jesus knowing that if we confess our sins, and we know He is faithful and just to forgive us, also is the hope in the verse above that when we are forgiven and cleansed; our sins are gone from God’s memory FOREVER!!! GONE, DONE, never to be brought up again, unlike we humans who remember things from the past in order to whip others with that offense in order to keep us in line, or subservient in order to tow the line. I have experienced this in my life by family members or friends who I have offended, apologized, and sought forgiveness, they accept the apology, however in the heat of passion its amazing how old offenses come back to bite you. We as Christians can rest in the promise of God’s word that our sins are gone forever through the blood and sacrifice of Jesus for us. Grab a hold of this promise today as hope and peace for you!!

Psalms 18:19 He also brought me out into an open place; He rescued me, because He delighted in me.* This verse became one of my favorites when I was in a dark place when I had depression over my parents and family members passed away, work was not great, other things in life, money issues, kids, etc pressure building up and I thought that God was mad at me and didn’t care about me. I know this sounds selfish and petty, however that’s what I thought. I had been a Christian since I was 5, yet I didn’t really know how to live the victorious life. I thought I did, however the flesh still reacted, and didn’t get the needed results I was looking for. I prayed one day and poured my heart out to Him, seeking wisdom and guidance. I asked for a word, and then this verse came up in my Bible. The Holy Spirit taught and revealed to me that I am a child of God, I am loved, and that God delights in ME. Even ME!!!! What a revelation! So many times I thought I didn’t matter, but I was wrong: I did matter and God delights in me because He created me!!! What a revelation and attitude adjuster. Changed my whole way of thinking. If God can do that for us through His son Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross, He can do the same for you!!!

  • From my beginning

I was born January 29, 1959 to Bill and Betty in Newaygo MI. I had an older sister Janet, (deceased) and would have had an older brother Billy, however he died from pneumonia when he was 18 months old. We attended church, my dad worked, and was a world war 2 army veteran, while my mom stayed home to tend the home fires. She worked for the former Zondervan Co. after she graduated high school, and even met Billy Graham before he became a famous evangelist. My parents married after my dad came home from the war, and he met my mom in church. They were active and did many things, bus driver, Sunday school teacher, etc. But it was only years later after I found out about having an older brother that I could sense that there was deep seated guilt in them concerning his death. It had never been treated, talked out or healed. There was tension and my parents always were concerned about me and my sister not being home on time. or notifying them about our whereabouts, even into adulthood. Even after Janet and I got married, my parents would worry about us, and call on a daily basis to check on us, to make sure we were ok. Mind you, I loved my parents dearly, and miss them to this day. However I knew they were born again Christians, but were never taught Biblical principles on how to deal with stress, worry and fear. If they would have, I’m sure it would have helped. Or even see a Christian discipler or counselor. Bible states in regard to worry: Isaiah 41:10-So do not fear, for I am with you, I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you. Deuteronomy 31:8-The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of peace. We are to rest in Him knowing that He will protect and lead us no matter what. Please let me know what your thoughts are in regard to this topic. I welcome a conversation. All verses from NASB 2020 version from Youversion Bible app.

  • Introduction

My name is Mike Hikade and My wife is Donna. We decided to start this blog in order to communicate our life struggles with cancer, multi organ transplantation, as well as family issues and how our faith in Jesus Christ has brought us through these problems. It has not been easy, and life isn’t perfect, however I’ve found that a lot of people live in a silo, what I mean is that most persons go through things in life, and keep them to themselves, and don’t share. I would like to tear the walls down and start a meaningful conversation and help each other through prayer, Bible and support. Leaning on each other and especially on God will help us all to be stronger.
